Recipes for the Lap Band Diet

People who opt for lap band surgery must pay close attention to what they eat after the procedure. According to LapBand.com, the lap band is a gastric banding that helps you gradually lose and control your weight by reducing the amount of food that your stomach can hold. This will require you to eat much less than you did before the lap band surgery. Here are a few recipes from LapBand.com that will help you stick to your lap band diet.

Breakfast

    Fruit Smoothie

    Makes one 16-ounce serving

    Ingredients:
    1/2 cup plain, low-fat yogurt
    1/2 cup frozen fruit (any kind)
    1 scoop vanilla protein powder
    8 ounces skim milk

    Directions:
    Combine the ingredients in a blender. Mix until smooth and creamy.

    Mexican Breakfast Casserole

    Makes 12 single-serving squares

    Ingredients:

    1 bag (12 ounces) Morningstar Farms frozen Sausage Crumbles
    1 medium zucchini, sliced into half-circles
    16 eggs, beaten well with cup water
    2 cups salsa (any kind)
    2 cups of low-fat shredded cheddar cheese

    Directions:
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray a 9 X13 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Spread the frozen sausage on the bottom of the pan. Top with sliced zucchini. Pour beaten eggs over the sausage and zucchini. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and spread salsa over the cooked eggs. Top with cheese and heat for five more minutes or until cheese is melted. Cut into 12 squares.

Lunch

    Cheesy Quesadilla

    Makes 1 serving

    Ingredients:
    1/3 cup frozen soy crumbles
    1/4 cup shredded fat-free cheddar cheese
    1/2 tbsp chopped scallions
    1 tbsp fat-free Greek yogurt
    1/4 tsp taco seasoning mix
    1 wheat tortilla
    1/2 wedge Laughing Cow Light Original Swiss Cheese

    Directions:
    In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine soy crumbles, cheddar cheese, scallions, Greek yogurt and taco seasoning. Microwave for 30 seconds. Lay tortilla flat and spread cheese wedge over half. Heat a medium-large pan sprayed with nonstick spray and lay tortilla in it with the cheesy side up. Cook for about 30 seconds. Top the cheesy tortilla with the yogurt mixture. Fold tortilla in half, press down to seal. Cook for 1 minute or until slightly toasted on the bottom. Remove from heat and cut into four triangles.

Dinner

    Vegetarian Stir-fry

    Makes two 1-cup servings

    Ingredients:
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 bag of frozen vegetables
    4 ounces extra-firm tofu, cut into slices
    1 bouillon cube (beef or chicken flavored), crushed
    2 tbsp Asian stir-fry sauce

    Directions:
    Coat a medium-sized skillet or wok with nonstick cooking spray and heat on high. Add minced garlic and cook until browned. Add vegetables, tofu and crushed bouillon. Stir gently. Cook until vegetables are tender. Remove from heat and add Asian stir-fry sauce.
