How to Do the Maple Syrup Diet

When you think of dieting, the first thing that comes to mind is probably not sweets. Most people tend to stay away from sugar and fatty foods. Syrup will more than likely fall into this category. Natural maple syrup is good for your heart and immune system, gives you energy and helps to balance certain hormones. The maple syrup diet is one weight loss plan that can help you get healthy.

    Prepare 1 gallon of the drink you'll use for the maple syrup diet. Add the following ingredients in a 1-gallon jug: 3 quarts of water, 1 cup of natural maple syrup, 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, 1 cup of lemon juice and 1 crushed laxative pill. If you make the drink and have an issue with constipation, increase the dosage to two laxative pills next time.

    Begin your diet. For the first day, this mixture should be your only food. You may drink other things such as tea but nothing else in the form of food may be ingested. Drink as much tea, water and the maple syrup drink as you would like.

    Start eating. For the second day, you may eat small things such as mashed potatoes or soup. No solid foods should yet be eaten. Continue drinking the maple syrup drink. Drink as much tea, water and maple syrup drink as you would like.

    Eat solid foods on the third day. Do not overload your body with large meals. Only small, light foods such as bread should be eaten on the third day. Nothing fatty should be eaten on this day. Continue drinking the maple syrup drink. Drink as much tea, water and maple syrup drink as you would like. On this diet you should never eat anything heavier than breads or fresh fruits.

    Rotate Steps 2, 3 and 4 for 10 days. Once off the diet, you should wait about a month to start again. This will give your body time to regulate itself and get you back on track. Once off the diet, do not eat huge meals for at least 3 days.
