How to Treat High Triglycerides through Diet

A simple way to treat High Triglycerides is with diet. Diet can help to lower High Triglycerides and often times even cure the problem. Below are the important changes that should be made to your diet to treat High Triglycerides.

    Avoid refined sugar which increases High Triglycerides. Be especially careful with candies and other sweets, and drinks that contain high amounts of sugar (this includes juice with sugar added). You should also be careful not to consume a lot of fructose.

    Avoid drinking a lot of alcohol. Drinking in moderation will not lead to High Triglycerides but excess drinking has been associated with High Triglycerides.

    Increase your intake of Fiber. Eating more Fiber has been shown to reduce High Triglyceride levels.

    Follow a low fat diet. Making small changes can help to treat High Triglycerides. Switch from full fat dairy products to low fat or fat free dairy products, and try to stick to poultry and lean red meats.
